Your BMW 7 Day Unseen Thailand Tour introduces you to the Ancient and Scenic Northeastern Thailand (Isaan). Your adventure begins in the capital of the Northern Lanna Kingdom – Chiang Mai, from where you journey to Northeast Thailand, following the Mighty Mekong River, which originates in China, winding its path between Thailand, Laos and Cambodia. You visit awesome ancient Khmer Ruins, which once belonged to the most powerful South East Asian Kingdom. You see vast areas of scenery overlooking the beautiful Mekong River, to the mountains of Laos. You visit Thai Cities, rich in tradition and culture, and you are met with smiling Thai communities. The journey returns to your hotel in the ancient Lanna capital – Chiang Mai. Arrival Day Chiang Mai Distance. 0 kms. Welcome to the exciting BMW Motorcycle journey of Unseen Thailand. Our tour guide will meet you at the airport, and transfer you directly to your hotel, where you can freshen-up and relax.
In the evening we arrange a meet and greet, where you have the opportunity to meet others on your tour.
Thai Bike Voyage will provide a tour briefing, and arrange a local personality to inform you of local history, geography and answer any other questions related to the tour.
Day 1 / 7 Chiang Mai – Phare – Phuruae -Distance 406 Kms. After breakfast you cruise south from Chiang Mai on the super highway to Lampang, and then head East along the mountain road to Phare. First stop being at Ban Thapla and Sirikit Dam, then you continue along the scenic winding mountain road, and dine at a traditional Thai restaurant. After lunch you continue viewing scenery with traditional Thai villages and farmlands. During June and July at Dan Sai, the “Phi Ta Khon” festival is celebrated by young men dressed as spirits, parading a sacred Buddha image, teasing villagers and monks, reciting the story of Buddha’s last great incarnation. From Dan Sai you cruise on a scenic mountain road, passing Thai towns until reaching “Phu Ruae” where you can relax in very peaceful accommodation.
Day 2 / 7 Phuruae to Chiang Khan and Nong Khai Distance 283 Kms. After a good breakfast you are cruising to the Thai- Laos border, to Chiang Khan where the Mekong River divides Thailand and Laos. Lunch will be served at a Thai restaurant, where you have the opportunity to savor many delicious Thai – Isaan dishes. You continue along the winding road following the Mekong River, and along the route you relax at a beautiful three level waterfall. Your journey continues witnessing many Isaan Thai communities, on route to your hotel destination at Nong Khai on the banks of the Mekong River.
Day 3 / 7 Nong Khai along the Mekong River to Nakhon Phanom Distance 314 Kms. After breakfast you head off along the banks of the Mekong River, observing an excellent view of the sun rising above the mountains of Laos across the river. Stop for lunch and meet local Thai-Lao people, then continue following the Mekong, visiting a local Thai temple and resting at a waterfall. You visit the house of Vietnamese leader Hồ Chi Minh, where he lived in exile during the 1928-29 revolutionary struggle for national independence. The Vietnamese village is a farming and trading village, and today the people Thai and Vietnamese. From the Ho Chi Minh house you are off to your hotel at Nakhon Phanom, where you enjoy the beautiful view of the Laos jungled mountains beyond the opposite river bank.
Day 4 / 7 Nakhon Phanom to Mukdahan and Ubon Ratchathani Distance 371 Kms. After breakfast you are off to visit the most famous Isaan Temple “Watt PharaThat Phanom” which was originally built around 535 BC in Khmer style. The Pagoda 53.6 meters high, has a square base, which occurs only in the Northeast of Thailand. The top is mounted with 110 kg of solid gold.
You continue following the border until you reach “Kaeng Kra Bao lsland” which runs across the Mekong River , where you relax and have refreshments. You cruise on to Fah Mue Daeng (Red Palm) Cave, which is a rock shelter with six red palm prints, believed to be 5,000 years old. Lunch at a Thai restaurant, and then continue along the mountain road until you reach the National park where a beautiful waterfall cascades through a rock pipe. You visit a steep cliff overlooking the Mekong River, with a panoramic view of Laos on the other side. On the cliffs’ surface, there are prehistoric paintings dating back 3,000 to 4,000 years, reflecting the ancient lifestyle of people who lived in the area thousands of years ago. You then head off to your Hotel at Ubon Ratchathani, where there is an abundance of handicrafts, such as silk ,cotton products, basketry, and bronze-ware. The people of Ubon Ratchathani have a unique folk culture, expressed in their indigenous cuisine, handicrafts, and traditional events such as the Candle festival held every July.
Day 5 / 7 Ubon Ratchathani to Kamire Ruins and Nakhon Ratchasima Distance 444 Kms. This is a really exciting morning, after breakfast you are on a journey through the early morning bustle of small Thai towns and beautiful scenery, heading for the ancient Khmer ruins. The first Khmer Ruin you reach is Ban Prasat Sanctuary, which comprises 3 brick pagodas with pointed tops on the same laterite base surrounded by a moat. The pagodas were built around the 11th century. The second Khmer Ruin is a Ta Leng Sanctuary, which is a single pagoda, with one real, and three fake elaborately carved doorways on an elevated square base. The architecture and art of the pagoda dates back to around 1017-1087. You continue touring through the fresh countryside, enjoying local Thai life along the Thai- Cambodian border. Lunch is served at a Restaurant where you can experience Thai “Isaan” dishes and friendly Thai hospitality. After lunch you continue to Phanom Rung, which is without doubt one of the most breathtaking historical sites in Thailand, and highlight of this tour. The Khymer ruins are situated on the rim of an extinct volcano. 1,320 feet above sea level. The first vision you have is the magnificent staircase with three platforms leading to the temple, towering above the staircase at the hilltop, — a magnificent sight. The stairs have bridges with Naga’s (3 headed serpents), and door lintels have many detailed carvings of ancient Gods. From the Ruins you head for the second Khymer Ruin highlight of your adventure Khorat, which is also well known for silk weaving and pottery products. Day 6 / 7 Nakhon Ratchasima to Phetchabun Distance 412 Kms. After breakfast you head off to visit a famous Thai pottery village, from there you pass many villages and farmlands, until you reach the Ancient Khymer Ruins of the fascinating Phimai Sanctuary. The Architecture has inscriptions from different periods in history, indicating the building was constructed over many centuries. The latest construction estimated between late 11th to mid 12th centuries. You cruise on until reaching an interesting archaeological Site At Ban Prasat, where you will see ancient human remains estimated to be 3,000 years old, included are various artifacts including ancient weapons, ornaments made of animal bones and shells. You stop for lunch, then descending the steep mountain pass with scenic views over the North of Thailand. At Petchabun you overnight at an excellent resort. Day 7 / 7 Petchabun to Chiang Mai Distance 418 Kms. After breakfast you head off along the Mountain road to visit a Royal Project Farm, famous for cultivation of cold weather fruit, vegetables, and many colorful flowers not indigenous to Thailand. Continue cruising along the scenic road visiting a waterfall along the way, where you stop for refreshments. Lunch is served at a local Thai restaurant. After lunch continue your journey on a scenic route to Lampang where you stop for refreshments and continue ride along the Chiang Mai – Lamphun’s old road with big trees along the way stop at nice temple at Lamphun. Continue cruise back to your hotel in the ancient Lanna Capital — Chiang Mai Departure Day Chiang Mai Distance 0 Kms. Thai Bike Voyage will transfer you to Chiang Mai Airport with a luxury mini bus. CONDITIONS AND TERMS OF THAI BIKE VOYAGE MOTORCYCLE TOURS LICENSES All motorcycle riders must have a valid motorcycle license, and have had the licence for 4 years or more, and must be over 25 years old. AThe guest will be required to produce their original driver license and passport prior to commencing tour. LIABILITY Thai Bike Voyage make every effort to safeguard our clients, we cannot be held responsible for personal injury or loss due to events which are beyond our control. Passengers should note that motorcycle travel involves a higher than normal risk and a signed release is required by Thai Bike Voyage from all motorcycle riders and passengers before the tour commences. Thai Bike Voyage do not guarantee pick up or drop off times and are not liable for passengers connection to flights, trains etc. Thai Bike Voyage accept no responsibility for loss or damage to personal belongings or baggage. TRAFFIC FINES On completion of the tour, all speeding tickets, camera speeding fines, parking fines, or any other traffic fine must be paid to Thai Bike Voyage. MOTORCYCLE SAFE RIDING CONDITIONS Thai Bike Voyage wishes to maintain the highest standards of safety to ensure the well being of our guests. We therefore only ride the motorcycles in conditions where there is full visibility ie. during daylight hours, and when vision is not impaired by heavy rain. Motorcycles may only be ridden from sunrise to sunset. Only in the case of late arrival may Thai Bike Voyage motorcycles be ridden, and at reduced speed to reach the next destination. When rainfall occurs speed must be reduced to a sensible safe wet road surface handling speed based on the motorcyclists skill, until the nearest shelter is reached. Itinerary Disclaimer Thai bike voyage itineraries may change as we make improvements to our tours. Our brochures are updated when tour itinerarys change or the need arises. Thai Bike Voyage reserves the right to amend the tour route due to road works, weather conditions, or our new research information on routes. No refunds will be given due to any route change. MOTORCYCLE PROTECTIVE GEAR Thai Bike voyage strongly recommends that all protective clothing be worn. Thai Bike Voyage provides all motorcycle protective gear. If you require any special size clothing it would be preferable to bring the protective clothing with you. In Thailand motorcycle helmets are compulsory, boots, protective clothing, and gloves for riders and passengers are strongly advised MEALS AND ALCOHOL Thai Bike Voyage provide breakfast at the hotel, normally an international buffet, and lunch at a restaurant during the day tour, normally Thai food , and international buffet. Due to popular demand by guests to arrange their own Dinners Thai Bike Voyage do not provide dinner. If you have any specific dietary requirements, please inform us when booking so we can make the appropriate arrangements for you. The Companion vehicle always carries cool bottled water and cool refresher towels. Snacks can be purchased during stops. Thai Bike Voyage do not provide any alcohol on Tour, and do not allow any alcohol consumption during the day while motorcycles are in use. Guests may consume alcohol in the evening when the motorcycles are not in use. TOUR GROUP SIZE Tour may commence with not less than 2 riders. an additional 100% must be paid for a single rider tour to commence. PILLION PASSANGERS AND GUESTS (NON MOTORCYCLE RIDERS) Pillion passenger on motorcycle, and guests traveling in the Companion vehicle. an additional 40% of the tour cost must be paid. TRANSFERS Thai Bike Voyage will collect you from the airport, hotel, or your accommodation, at the beginning of the tour. At the end of the tour you will be transferred back to your hotel, accommodation, or the airport. FUEL All fuel is supplied by Thai Bike Voyage. DAMAGE OR TECHNICAL FAILURES Any damage, mechanical or electrical failure on any Thai Bike Voyage motorcycle must be reported to the tour leader immediately. CLOTHING AND THAI SEASONS Casual clothing is used everywhere, except when visiting temples, where short pants and skirts are not traditionally acceptable. The 3 seasons in Thailand are Winter, Rainy season, and Summer WINTER From November to February, the days are warm, but evenings and mornings can be cool, and a light jersey may be used. Rainy Season- From July to October, the days temperature . Days are hot 21 to 30 deg. A rain coat is required. Summer –From March to June Days are 33 to 38 deg. INSURANCE COVERAGE PERSONAL INSURANCE Thai bike Voyage provides the following Travel Accident Insurance included in the Tour fee: Life Insurance Cover US$ 15,000.00 Total Disability, Loss of Sight US$ 15,000.00 Medical Accident Insurance: US$ 1,500.00 Any extended or additional Insurance coverage must be purchased by the guest. Thai Bike Voyage does not provide personal insurance coverage for any other items, other than mentioned above. Thai Bike Voyage does not provide insurance coverage for, but not limited to, illness, damage, or theft of personal belongings, and not being able to travel on a confirmed departure date. MOTORCYCLE INSURANCE Thai Bike Voyage has 2 choices of insurance coverage for the motorcycle. A. Insurance with Excess Deposit B. Collision Damage Waiver A. Insurance with Excess Deposit The excess deposit is held on a major credit card authorization and will be debited with the full excess deposit and refunded approximately 7 days after the motorcycle is returned to Thai Bike Voyage. If any damage has occurred to the motorcycle, the damage costs will be converted to a debit. The Excess costs are as below: F 650 GS : US$ 1500.00 R 1200 GS : US$ 2250.00 B. Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) Cover For an additional daily charge you can purchase a CDW to reduce your liability for the Excess included in the motorcycle insurance coverage.
